Log Cabin Holidays – FAQs

What is a log cabin holiday and why are they so popular?

A log cabin holiday is a self catering holiday, staying close to nature in wooden holiday lodges. It provides the perfect opportunity to down tools for a while and spend quality time with friends or family.

The popularity of log cabin holidays lies in their convenience. In no time at all you can be relaxing in your own private log cabin, as if miles from anywhere, enjoying the peace and quiet of the wonderful English countryside. Taking a log cabin holiday in the UK, means that instead of changing money and packing your passports, all you’ll need to do is select a location, load up the car, drive to your destination and relax.

Your time is your own, to do with what you will. You can lose yourself in a good book or go for lovely long romantic walks. You can take a leisurely stroll around the local towns and villages enjoying the sights, sounds and the change of pace in places you might otherwise not have come across before.

A log cabin holiday with Windmill Lodges gives you the opportunity to explore the beautiful county of Suffolk in East Anglia. You may even find, as many have, that this pretty and peaceful corner of England appeals not just as a short holiday destination but as somewhere you may want to adopt as your permanent home.

How many log cabins are there at Windmill Lodges?

At Windmill Lodges we believe in allowing our guests room to breathe. For this reason we have limited our site to an exclusive development of just 7 log cabins and each of the cabins is situated on a very good sized plot.

How many people does the range of accommodation cater for?

Our largest cabin, the Greenfinch can comfortably accommodate 8 people and is arranged on a 6+2 basis.

We have 4 cabins, the Bullfinch, the Goldfinch, the Wagtail and the Woodpecker that can sleep 6 people arranged on a 4 + 2 basis.

The Chaffinch is a one bedroomed lodge with a put you up bed for a child of up to 11 years.

The Kingfisher has two double bedrooms and is reserved for adults only.

What is the standard of accommodation?
We pride ourselves on maintaining the very highest of standards at our log cabins and have secured a number of tourism awards. The English Tourism Council have awarded us 4 and 5 stars and following our recent annual inspection from Visit England, we are pleased to announce that we are now accredited with Cyclists and Walkers Welcome.

What facilities are there in the log cabins and on site?

Each of the log cabins if fitted, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and they all benefit from modern well equipped kitchens and fiited bathrooms. Each cabin is heated via a gas coal effect fire and/or under floor heating, all have free Wifi  and many come with the latest TV DVD and hi-fi equipment. Outside and each lodge has its own veranda and private high specification hot tub.

There is a well stocked catch and release fishing lake around which the lodges are arranged and a heated indoor swimming pool which is available for guest use from Easter to October.

Are children and pets welcome?

Children are of course, very welcome though we would ask that they remain under adult supervision particularly within the vicinity of the swimming pool, the lake and the hot tubs.  We cannot unfortunately extend the same welcome to pets, please find someone to look after them for the duration of your stay.

Are the lodges all non-smoking?

Yes.

Are barbecues permitted?

Barbecues are not only permitted, they are positively encouraged but we would ask that if you are having a barbecue party, please remain within the grounds of your lodge so as not to impinge on the privacy of others.

Are the log cabins available to rent all year round?

Yes. Our log cabins are ideally suited for summer holidays, winter holidays, spring and autumn breaks.

What log cabin holiday options are available?

You can stay for a short 3 or 4 night break, either from Friday to Monday for a short weekend break or from Monday to Friday for the 4 night stay.
